Highway Teammate will “enable automated merging, lane changes and diverging, as well as keep a vehicle in its lane and maintain vehicle-to-vehicle distance,” the Toyota-owned brand states. But as far as the types of sensors and cameras that it will be using to power its system, Lexus won’t say.
When its released, Highway Teammate will put Lexus in competition with Tesla, Cadillac, Audi, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, and other automakers that are adding more and more semi-autonomous driving features to their vehicles. Autopilot, Super Cruise, Traffic Jam Pilot, ProPilot, and others are helping introduce hands-free driving to the luxury market. And now Lexus is getting in on the party.
We don’t know what sort of limitations will apply to Lexus’s system until the automaker says more. All of these systems require some level of driver attention, and some are only usable on certain roads. Lexus says it will utilize some combination of connected-car technology and artificial intelligence to ensure safe automated driving.
Sorry if already known about. I must of missed this. Baidu and Intel are welcome to work with us.

"Secondly, the Cruising Chauffeur includes an additional fall back mode that conventional vehicles do not have. If the driver is no longer able to take control of the wheel again, for whatever reason, then the Cruising Chauffeur nonetheless brings the car to a stop safely.”
The system uses an interior camera and driver analyser to detect the driver’s ‘gaze pattern’ and make conclusions regarding the state of attentiveness.
Interesting (I think) research publication in February 2018. Note the conclusion paragraph below. Sounds good for endorsing SEE type tech going forward (one hopes), if not already ;).
3. Conclusions
The aviation domain can benefit from the growth and maturation of eye-tracking technology to
further reduce the rate of incidents due to human factors. This paper is the first one of its genre to define and retrace the framework consisting of four main stages for the integration of eye-tracking systems into cockpits. We ordered these four steps in the chronological order of their possible implementation, thus retracing the vector of the eye-tracking integration process into the cockpits. We believe that, if used wisely, the eye-tracking technology can facilitate and accelerate pilot training, facilitate the investigation of in-flight incidents and considerably enhance flight safety. While this paper reflects upon the aviation domain, we also believe that this work will be useful for practitioners in other domains such as automobile, air traffic control and command and control centers.

"From Monday next week I start a new job! I'll be the manager for #Scania's #InteractionDesign Group."
Stas' current Twitter account profile already states he is 'Cognitive Engineer at Scania's Driver Interaction Group'.
I KNOW IT COULD BE NOTHING, but leave it with you.
Interesting study on the benefits for Eye Tracking in aviation. All points to SEE type tech to me. https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.mdpi.com/2313-576X/4/1/8/pdf&ved=2ahUKEwiy55vNzMTbAhXmCMAKHW2nBBYQFjACegQIAhAB&usg=AOvVaw3cyEVeVyqlX-MfFAY-83j8

Dr Mike Penne just 'liked' this video news piece of Twitter: https://twitter.com/7NewsMelbourne/status/1003553371628843008?s=01
Must admit I was not aware of this partnering group and not sure if it helps us (apologies if wasting people's time as already known by most). I came across the paragraph on a website by chance. I know we have a good connection with Continental AG, but cannot remember what relationship (if at all) we have with Aptiv. Hope we might be working with this indirectly. "BMW formed the iNext partnership in 2016 with technology companies Intel and Mobileye. At the beginning of 2017 Delphi Automotive and Continental AG, two of the worlds largest auto-parts suppliers joined the group. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) joined the super group of self-driving gurus in August, with Magna International joining the platform in October. These will be the core developing companies. After this anyone wishing to join this iNext group will have to come in as a customer. Nvidia is not involved, Intel was decided upon instead. It is of note that Tesla has decided to go with a different company than Nvidia as well."
No sound with this BMW level 3 footage, but interesting to see the steering wheel light up just like in the Cadillac. Might mean nothing, but just putting it out there. https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=sV4QyWidQf4
