Premium performance unit dose dishwasher detergents in North America typically use ethylene oxide (EO)/propylene oxide(PO) surfactant for shine and cleaning performance, are packaged into pods or tablets with PVOH film, and measure up to 18 grams of ingredients per dose.
Some consumers are showing increasing interest, however, in safer detergents that are more compact, do not use EO/PO surfactant, and are not packaged with PVOH film. To date, brands have faced difficult performance and cost compromises to meet such desires.
