Greg, based on your point, how come the share price didnt rise months ago? Why the rise now, nothing to do with valuation, more to do with speculation imho.

So definitely no need for sequencing, just sample testing. No need to test everybody, yes it's all political, and temporary, if government can't afford to pay public sector wage, they can't afford to pay furlough again nor can they close the economy as supply chain will elevate inflation further. So yes, we have to live with it, nothing changes for us all imho.

9000 dying a day doesn't mean covid variant is strong, it simply means, China are lacking immunity due to lack of vaccination compared to anywhere else as they were locked away. Rest of the world has been exposed and built the immunity, for the body to fight it. China Is at a stage where the rest of the world were 2 to 3 years ago. Why sequence everything coming from China but not sequence everything from US which has been circulating for months.. why did they stop sequencing ? Simply it didn't make sense to...whilst the iron was hot, they did everything when covid came to light, nearly 3 years on, the variant has had enough time to be less severe. Imho

People are living with covid, just like flu which has increased 7 fold...just like strep a, just like monkey pox..no way will they, if there was a dangerous variant from China, key word is 'IF' that they would ever lockdown the country knowing the damage it has caused from the past. If no one cares about dangerous variant circulating in US accounting for 40% of the cases there then no one will ever care about any other if another dangerous variant arise. The variants are dying off and becoming less dangerous. Imho

Even if there was a dangerous variant, no way will they impose lockdown again, the affects on mental.health and damages to economy, supply chain imbalances will push up inflation even higher. So testing is definitely political, whats their to gain when they arnt going to do anything about any dangerous variant imho.

He was backed by Professor Paul Hunter of the University of East Anglia: “Point-of-entry and point-of-exit screening for serious infections have been shown – on many occasions – to be ineffective at controlling diseases. This has been demonstrated by studies that were carried out before and after the emergence of Covid-19. One study suggested that about 60% of cases are missed this way. This isn’t going to protect the UK population because it isn’t going to stop the spread. So it is hard to see what will be gained by imposing these tests.”

“I don’t think it’s likely the UK will get any public health benefit from this measure,” said Professor Mark Woolhouse of Edinburgh University. “This can only have been done for political reasons.”
