Agree the POG helping no doubt But maybe betts will shock the market by delivering for once. A first time for everything. POG only ultimately helps if you have some gold to sell. Even crap results are worth more than the current market cap
Anyone wondering why the price of gold is motoring, as is all the Aussie gold stocks? Look at any Bellevue, goldroad, northern star and even Newcrest up between 15-30% while GGP is down? AUD:GBP hasn’t really moved much
Can anyone explain
Interesting comments on HotCopper….. maybe there is a lot more to find and mine at Telfer. Becoming clearer now why they didn’t take up the 5%
I wonder where this will open and close today
Newcrest Mining Limited (Newcrest) (ASX, TSX, PNGX: NCM) is pleased to announce that it is proceeding with
the West Dome Stage 8 cutback at its Telfer operation, with the Newcrest Board approving a total investment
of A$214 million (~US$150 million) inclusive of mine operating costs and A$73 million (~US$51 million) of
capitalised production stripping. The cutback underpins continuity of operations at Telfer, with the mine now
expected to extend operations into early FY251.
The cutback is located adjacent to the current West Dome Stage 2 and West Dome Stage 5 pits, and first ore
production is expected in the December 2022 quarter1.
Newcrest Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Sandeep Biswas, said “We are delighted to further
extend the life of our Telfer operation, highlighting our ability to maximise the full potential of our assets through
our strong technical expertise. Telfer is strategically positioned in the highly prospective Paterson Province and
we are continuing to progress several potential options to expand the resource base in the open pits and
underground to unlock additional value,” said Mr Biswas.
Worth reading the last bit…… we are continuing to progress several potential options to expand the resource base in the open pits and underground to unlock additional value
Seems they opted for teller than buying the 5% and see quite a number of years of organic production if more resource expansion to come.
Will put more cash burn pressure on GGP if cashflow is many years away. Newcrest seem in no hurry with haverion. Maybe they hope to pick things up on the cheap when the GGP tin gets empty
Mr market seems to suspect this with all Goldies doing well and GGP drifting down.
Every time I look at this share, the SP is lower and the rampers more desperate….. see you in a few months . Enjoy been encouraged to average down by the usual rampers. Like catching the falling knife. Good luck all & DYOR
You mean the PFS that Newcrest disowned ( and unusually put out an announcement to make clear )

Teller still has a numbers of years in it. We know it won’t last forever, that accepted. But the urgency of GGP is far greater than Newcrest. Newcrest can wait and allocate capital to the highest return projects first. That’s why I don’t think they are in a hurry. If you look at the brucejack and the intercepts, shallow depths and grade….nothing comes close. Very low risk even if the gold price softens further….all the while GGP is burning cash, especially on things like an ASX listing
Maybe that’s why the SP only seems to go south …… endless opportunities to average down (even when the Gold price goes up)
Is all in the hands of Newcrest ……. They seem far more excited by brucejack and red Chris reading the latest quarterly ….cant blame them when you look at the intercepts. VU-4546, 22m @ 178g/t Au from 2m, including 1.0m @ 3,876g/t Au from 2m. In addition, VU-4331 returned 70.1m @ 35g/t Au from 337.5m, including 1.0m @ 2,310g/t Au from 361.5m.
You don’t get better than that….. maybe why they they seem less in a hurry with havieron.
I do know the west very well indeed, even though I’m from the eastern states.
In reply to speedymate, yes I agree gold is the real money. But don’t agree GGP will be digging it out of the ground, they aren’t operator and don’t have a say. NCM call the shots, as they found out with the 5%.
