"So, we looked at a number of outcomes including patients with more severe disease and how they differed from patients with milder disease and patients with more severe disease seemed to have an even stronger response, so an odds ratio of over 3 in terms of recovery, compared to the overall population.
So, what does this mean?
It means that there is a clear indication for this therapy if this is repeated data in larger studies across the disease spectrum.
But there may be a naturally augmented response in even more severe disease than the average hospitalized patient and that's relevant ***because I think there was a lot of anxiety prior to these trials about giving inhaled interferon to patients with severe disease because it could tip over a patient into a more inflamed state, as was the hypothesis, but we did not see that and I think's a key finding.***"
Is the last sentence new information?
It seems important.
