more than anything, is that there is no noise (excluding pi's) from the larger/corporate investors and everyone involved in the operation that have been party to the Placings, Offers, and also those that are doing what they do for shares, like our Scottish Engineer. AND Lind? So guess there must be some pretty angry people out there. The question is what do they know that we don't? and if there is nothing they know that we don't, what are they doing about the situation they currently find themselves in??...

It is a fact that they are on the up, as we have had the projected figures. It would be good to know that they are economising (if that is the case) after the last debacle, but doesn't change the fact that is a very nice neighbourhood, and unless you know the previous office expenditure and the current then your post is as ambiguous as mine!

no other Tenders submitted in Dar es Salaam with regards to the RCPP.

That's a mini solar project (as I understand it) for Sumbawanga Town! Hardly capable of feeding power into a $455m transmission line. The RCPP is to feed masses of electrical power into the grid, not just for the local community.

The biggest problem with solar is they have two rainy seasons in this region, so if the suns not out there's no power other than that currently supplied by diesel powered generators. And the problem with diesel (other than not being a natural resource) is that it takes 5 days by road to get from (say) Der es Salaam to Sumbawanga..

Tanzania have projects currently in every conceivable natural resource except nuclear, the biggest of all is the Stiegler's Gorge Hydroelectric Power Station which beggars belief imho

Most countries wouldn't generally Licence a Coal Mine with 173mt of coal LIVE on 'National TV' (in the middle of nowhere) just to supply a few thousand tonnes of coal to local businesses...

Why are Tanesco ignoring the hundreds and hundreds of millions of tonnes of coal (at at least two of the sub station locations) when they don't have hydro, solar, wind, natural gas, oil?, limited geothermal (to the best of our knowledge) within the proposed route of the Transmission Line?....

There's not too much to suppose.

Sumbawunga is at the end of the proposed transmission line, and there is absolutely nothing there except a coal mine. There is no hydro, no solar, no natural gas, possibly geothermal with doubtful capacity, BUT there is a working coal mine.

The original Master Plan heavily featured coal. The reality is that if the transmission line does extend to Sumbawanga the only sufficient power source for at least 70 miles (to the best of our knowledge) please correct me if I'm wrong) is OUR 173mt plus of coal.

The Tenders were submitted by eligible parties, and were opened in the presence of the companies representatives in Dar es Salaam.

Edenville are the most northerly coal deposit, and are situated at the end of the planned Sumbawanga to Tunduma $455 million height voltage transmission line, and are the only (that we (plural) are aware of)) company that could feed into the planned Sub Station at Sumbawanga. Everything is dependent on Tanesco and if they want to move ahead.

So if ever Tanesco do what is required of them by the World Bank in relation to the Transmission Line, then someone? ...will need 'OUR' 173m PLUS tonnes of coal!!! :))

their country. The way it's going one day soon Tanzania will be uninvestable.

I think it's fair to say that the application for the SML was related to the development of the Power Plant (RCPP).. If there is to be no Power Plant then there is absolutely no need for a 'Special' ML. Likely we'll get a ML if LC wants to become a coal miner,....which I very much doubt.

My current thinking is that if the Tanesco's decision is not rescinded is that LC will want to sell the whole shebang and kiss goodbye to Tanzania... All imho of course

As I understand it, and I have spoken to EDL's CEO. To the best of our knowledge (in the related area/region) there was no one else Tendering other than the two eligible CPP's Kibo and Edenville, but that might not actually be the case. What we do know is that between the two companies they have considerable assets in 300mt of local coal.

The Tenders were nullified, which doesn't mean that that is necessarily the end of the story as this is Tanzanian!!

Tanesco by all accounts have nullified all the Tenders, as mentioned in my 12:05 Friday
post, but that's just the situation as I understand it through the limited facts that are available.
