Sure, hook-up, commissioning and thus FoiL have been 'put back' a bit. (But it must be remembered, still remain withing the projected timeline window, so can't be described as 'delayed'.)

But more importantly, there is a huge difference between the examples you cite, and Hurricane / Bluewater's position. Boiled town to two little words in the RNS. NO DAMAGE.

Once again, you are being disingenious, and once again I wonder what prompts you to write such thinly-veiled and deliberate disinformation, in the full knowledge that some people without a good technical grasp of the situation, or who haven't the time to cross-reference to Tullow's Jubilee FPSO, might not understand, anyway, and thus grasp the wrong end of the stick.

Most probably not. Imho.

It's something people who talk about throwing money at the supplier (whoever it may be) in the hope of 'jumping the queue' seem to forget. All the other people who require such (obviously) custom-manufactured kit also probably have high-dollar orders standing, so why should one big-payer customer take precedence over another? It's not a good way of doing business and maintaining client goodwill.

And given the season, overall weather and sea-state conditions, etc., nobody will be in any hurry, anyway. (Imho, again.) As a shareholder I'd be unhappy to learn any sort of 'rush job' was involved.

No. The GD is a safety / standbuy / rescue vessel. Utterly no way it'd be in that boat's remit to go picking up spare parts for the client except in case of emergency. There are plenty of other (more appropriate) vessels available on spot hire to do that, if required.

I don't know what the GD is doing in Stavanger, maybe crewchange, or whatever. But it's of no importance. She's been relieved in the Cromarty Firth on standby duty for the AM by the Grampian Conquest.

Bach Brandenburg Concertos (in the Town Hall reception room: reservation only), Véronique Sanson (in the town's biggest concert-hall: for those that don't know of her, she was once married to Stephen Stills), a brilliant local band called 'Folksom' who play old USA blues and country (venue: a nearby bar/café), and of course the pretty young busking violinist in the nearby square who plays assorted light 'classical' very well. I always put a coin in her violin-case, and the other day, when it was foggy, I asked her how on earth she managed to keep her instrument in tune with such meteorological conditions. And got an almost-anticipated repy: "avec grande difficulté ! " For some reason she's recently dyed her waist-length previously blonde hair jet black, but I didn't ask her why .

You must have seen the absolute blizzard of messages here following the 'incident', proposing what may have happened, what sort of 'rope' it is, where and how it's attached, and so on. Just about all of which was guesswork (including my own). People who are actually in the know are probably prohibited by their work contracts from posting on BB's like this...

My own guess is that yes, we may see some sort of 'work boat' going to the field before the AM. And Grampian Sovereign. But of course, my guess could be quite wrong.

A number of 'shipwatchers' (some of whom keep in touch outside any BB) are keeping their eyes peeled for any new charters coming up and which may be related, even before anything shows up on the AIS...

No accounting for taste, I suppose. But not everyone is 'into' the Grateful Dead, and hardly anyone's even heard of Jason and the Scorchers...

I assume you mean leave your phone in the hotel?

I suggest not to. If you're out on the felltops in the Lake District at this time of year, a mobile phone can be a useful bit of 'safety kit' to have with you in case you sprain an ankle, get lost in mist, or something like that. Though of course I hope no such misadventure befalls you!

Mind you, who am I to talk? During my bit of (hugely enjoyable) high-speed driving last night (for which I make no excuses other than I just felt like having some fun), had I gone off the road and into the trees, it might have taken a while to find me. For starters nobody else knew where I was, other than my brother who lives in the UK, but also my mobile phone was turned OFF (really off), as it nearly always is when I'm driving.

Curing your 'Hurricane SP addiction should be approached (imho) in the same way as foregoing alcohol for a month or two or five (which I sometimes do). You just stop. You don't chuck the contents of the drinks-cupboard in the bin. In fact you feel better within yourself if the temptation's there, but you've gone another day without indulging.

I think you'll find that the correct phrase is 'get a wriggle on', and is British in origin. Possibly coming from footballing roots. Of course the yanks may have adapted it a bit, as an example Jerry Lee Lewis' line "She's got a wiggle in her walk" in the song 'Great Balls of Fire'.

Either way, there's nowt we can do but 'hurry up and wait'.

Of course, those who haven't 'hurried up' might find themselves missing the boat...

Yes, if that was the thrust of Chris' post, I agree. This 'issue' about RBD's 'status' seems to be dragging on a bit. My post was simply a knee-jerk reaction, because whenever I see the word 'spreadbetting' in the same sentence as 'investment', it makes me see red. Some people object to 'shorting', in fact some countries (like Germany) don't allow it on their exchanges. Me? I shrug my shoulders and live with it. Been around for centuries. But 'spreadbetting? It's the greatest cause of market 'manipulation' devised: an anathema. By rights, a bookie isn't allowed to own the horses. The same rule doesn't apply on the stockmarket. It's an open (and accepted) scandal. Of course, spreadbetting has been around for over a century as well: the infamous 'bucket-shops'. But back then, they were simply the equivalent of a bookie's. Sometimes...

I might play poker, but won't play against a stacked deck. And anyway, I'm not playing against the 'house'. The 'house just takes its percentage of each pot, just like a stockbroker. But this is what spreadbettors are doing day in, day out. Gambling against the house. Except the 'house' can tilt the roulette-wheel whichever way it wants, whenever it's in their favour.

Weather ridiculously warm and sunny in daytime, slightly chilly in the evenings. Not stopping the daffs from poking up.

Despite warmth and comfort of my 'bolthole', did everything there I'd intended to do, and it being a late Monday night (no cops around, light traffic, etc.), decided to run back home and enjoy breaking a few speed limits for a change. Which I did, and great fun it was too. Nice to know my 15-year-old rangerover is still OK for 100 mph on two lane blacktop (bordered by trees). Saw three other cars on the 36 km winding, 'country' part.

My calander's free for first two weeks in April, but let's keep it to PM. Unless there's the likelihood of a FoiL party in either Niort of La Rochelle, of course!

That's a bit harsh. I've never been to the Maldives, but the place looks nice. However, doesn't make this oilman (and investor) 'go green with envy'. Because to get there involves airports, being treated as self-loading cargo, and being dependent on others for everything.

Me, I'm taking a quick 36 hours out of town in my Northern Dordogne bolthole. The fire is on, I have some victuals and food, and only a handful of people know where I am or how to find me. Just 100 miles from Niort, but it's a two hour drive.

Internet speed is probably slower than in the Maldives, but I can live with that.
