In my opinion some people are placing far too much emphasis on ExCo as being the route to significant value creation in the near term.

The first phase is simply the creation of a new subsidiary company with relatively minor investment from outside parties. It will allow us to explore some of the hitherto unexplored assets and will hopefully allow us to gain a better understanding of the way forward for Porv. But it will not create instant value appreciation. For that to happen the process will have to deliver good results, which will take time.

It's good news this is happening, but expectations need to be be tempered.

It seems to me the volatility we are now seeing reflects the fact the recent value appreciation has attracted many more speculative traders than we've been used to. It has never taken much to shift the price, and it's currently being driven by the daily whims of small retail punters. Part of DV's task is to replace this element of retail holders with institutions. The sooner the better.

Orthern, the spread on this share is virtually always incredibly tight - in some ways it behaves like a FTSE 100 company - but I have no idea why.
