My earlier point referred to what happens if New buy Cornerstone. Will this also free BHP to bid? In my book, they will.

Quady, I tend to agree with you, particularly as the latest presentation referred to "PFS and/or DFS". I took this to imply that we may never get to the DFS stage. Alternatively, they won't bother with a PFS and will simply produce a DFS. As I've said before, I've never understand why both have to be produced; it strikes me as a waste of time and money.

Calendar year is 1st Jan to 31st Dec, is it not? Therefore the Zinnwald FS is due for completion by 31st Dec at the latest. This is what we were being told last year and therefore, it hasn't changed.
And the funding has slipped by one quarter.

If Newcrest did bid for Cornerstone, I wonder if BHP would regard this as a quasi bid for SOLG and therefore feel that it was freed of the restrictions to which they signed up?

I don't think the PEA is a precursor to an agreed bid, but I do see it as us setting out our stall in the expectation that a bid will arrive before the PFS, in other words, during the course of this year.
To me, this explains why it's being completed in much more detail than was 'anticipated'. And by the way, I don't think NM would give any consideration to a bid at the levels which you suggest.

The guy Bristow talks great sense, although I think I'd like to kick his arse...he's a big game hunter.

In my opinion the company needs to be very open and transparent with shareholders about any environmental issues which arise. Rather than trying to hide them or be forced into making statements, or sending emails to private investors, they should openly discuss what's going on and, if necessary, explain exactly what remedial actions are being put in place.
The days of mining companies being able to do things behind closed doors are long gone and transparency is the only way forward.
Solg clearly has spent a great deal of time, money and effort developing local relationships and it's hugely important that this good work is not undone, particularly if it's related to a third party who we don't get on with.
Still, bear in mind, we don't have any concessions in protected areas and, as far as I'm aware, no issues have arisen at Cascabel.

These trades were again described as non-price moving transactions on the Stock Exchange web site. This almost certainly means they are the same person moving their holdings between one entity and another.
So, here's the conspiracy bit: what if it's BHP or Newcrest moving their holdings into a bidco? it could even be Cornerstone isolating their holding in a separate vehicle...although I'm not sure I understand what the reason would be.
Of course, the more mundane and probably more likely explanation, is that it is being done for some opaque tax reasons.

I think a number of us suggested that the "delay" in the PEA was as a result of it being 'more detailed' than originally planned.
In my opinion, there is a very good reason for this and it doesn't take too much imagination to work out what it is.

TC, agreed, but the tricky bit lies in the scaling-up of the process.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying for one moment that it isn't possible, simply that it has risks and those risks are part of what has thus far deterred many financial investors.
One other thing: I really wish when BCN did the BFS they had taken longer and included more of the assets, including the jvs. .125bn is all okay, but it could have been so much more. I wonder why they didn't do it?

This article, combined with everything else we've heard and read over the past six months, confirms that the M&A momentum is where the action will be over the next year or two.
M&A is not some form of "optional extra" in the sector; it is an absolute imperative for the long term survival of the mining behemoths.

I was one of the earliest investors in this company, having been a shareholder in the company that effectively became REM (it's so long ago I've forgotten what it was called). I sold my investment in 2013/4 (I think) and put all of my eggs in the BCN basket.
At the time,I recall many happy disagreements with Barksy as we argued the toss over why I thought it better to invest directly in a potential producer rather than an investment company. She thought I was mad.
As it turns out, we were both wrong and holding in either companies has been an unmitigated disaster.
I've spent many fruitless hours trying to work out where I went wrong and there is a simple answer; I completely underestimated just how complex the process of lithium production is and, regardless of the long term future for the mineral, the financial markets are wilfully short-term and are refusing to back new projects.
With regard to the financial markets, I should have known better, particularly bearing in mind my work experience.
I firmly believe in the long term future, but whether BCN and or KDNC will be around to benefit is a moot point. I am now out of BCN (again) and will only return once financing is in place (I don't care if I don't hit the bottom because I believe there will be plenty of value to be had)
This has been a costly mistake on my behalf, but it was my mistake and I don't blame others.

Barksy, that section is only applicable if the issuer, in this case BCN, is non-UK domiciled. As BCN is a UK issuer the section is not relevant, which explains why it was left blank.

My guess is that the major potential bidders are waiting for someone else to make the first move.(obviously, it could be argued that BHP/Newcrest have already done so, but I'm talking about a full bid)
NM will know that a competitive hostile bid virtually always delivers a greater shareholder return than an agreed bid, and he will be sitting back waiting for the action to begin.
Following the period of balance sheet repair, we know the majors are in a position to bid. We also know they have an absolute commercial imperative to re-build their diminishing resource pipe-lines. And we also know Tier 1 resources are as rare as hens teeth. All of which places us in a very fortunate situation.
It seems almost inconceivable that we will not see some form of top level corporate action during the course of 2019 and the comment from Cleary rather reinforces my view.

£2 would do it for me. A nice seven figure profit and down to the pub for a week-long lock-in.
