The DFS has been firmly kicked into the long grass. Work will continue, but it will not have gone unnoticed that reference to it came at the bottom of the announcement. Not that we'll ever get there, but when can we expect it? Summer 2024? Q1 2025? As for production, the start date has now slipped into the next century.

Monte, I agree. The full time appointment needed to be announced, but the rest didn't. Nevertheless, it's good to get a clear statement of intent from Caldwell.
One very interesting thing to bear in mind about the appointment is the remuneration. He is being paid a "nominal amount"...how many CEOs would accept that if they thought this was a long term appointment? They wouldn't.

Given that the DFS wasn't due until the end of next year, the reference to the delay is very interesting. I wonder why, given the extended timeframe, it was felt necessary to inform us of the delay? I can understand the Porv PEA, but the DFS is strange. Have we been barking up the wrong tree again? It seems every time a new CEO arrives we decide to look at things differently. All very odd.

All on track apart from the inevitable delay in the DFS. Hardly surprising since we won't need it.

Q, one minute you state without equivocation, that no one has mentioned selling anything and then in the next you agree that they have. You follow this up by saying people are concentrating on the most unlikely one to support their worldview.

2Luke, you are spot-on. The merger with CGP makes the whole thing far more attractive to a potential buyer; for the simple reason it makes any transaction far easier...and that includes fund raising.

My own view is that Cascabel should be safe, but despite assurances from the company, I'm not so certain about other concessions. As far as I'm concerned, Cascabel is the only thing that matters.

Q, I really don't want to open up the diverse book argument again, but I promise you, if someone really wants this and an agreed deal isn't possible, they'll go for it regardless of the make-up of the shareholder register. How do you think any takeover is ever successful?
As it happens, and as I've maintained for a very long time, I agree that an agreed deal following an extensive marketing exercise is the most likely way for this to proceed.

rcgl, now we're in the hands of Sangha an co I am much more confident we can escape the slow strangulation by BHP. There are plenty of other fish in the sea.
