Your faux outrage is hilarious, particularly from someone who lives in a country which has treated its own indigenous peoples with such contempt.

Only a total moron would think I was referring to the general populations of the African nations - they're not in a position to engage and benefit from the industrial scale corruption of their governments. I was obviously referring to the post-colonial leadership of most of these countries, who have raped, pillaged and murdered millions of their own citizens in their never-ending pursuit of power, greed and corruption. If you can name one African state that is a paragon of virtue I'll give you a gold star. And before you say it, I'm not arguing the case for a return of the colonial powers.

And it's interesting, isn't it, that so many of these poor, benighted people are being forced by their own governments to seek sanctuary in this and other European countries.

Sadly, my description of the African nations is accurate and if you chose to live in ignorance, that's your look out.

Incidentally, I can see no reason why your nation should continue to have our King as head of state. If you don't want him, have a referendum and get shot of the bloke.

If you think the countries you mention are going to keep throwing up Tier 1 deposits , you're deluded. The low-hanging fruit are gradually, or not so gradually, disappearing. Do you think miners operate in the cesspits of Africa because they want to? And Latin America isn't much better.

The fact is they have to go to these places - it's where the deposits are, so I fear it's you who has his head in the sand. Their long term futures lie in these countries. Note my use of the phrase long term.

If you're a mining company and wish to have a long term future, what choice do you have other than to operate in corrupt and violent countries?

If we had no cash we may well find ourselves in the position of being forced sellers. I assume you've understood that part of the sentence? The second point is that we're hoping to enter into negotiations ( for context read my other posts about all options) of some form and cash allows us to do so from a position of strength. This is a fact. Or do you disagree?

As to your final point, none of us know what will emerge, not even a genius like you.

If you've ever sold a company or engaged in some form of corporate activity you'll understand the need to do so from a position of strength and that means having cash. Or do you disagree? I know you know this, but it's very typical of you - you're simply being obtuse for the sake of it.

You state the purpose of what's going on at the moment is to make the company viable in order to improve the share price. Well, that's going well, isn't it.

The second point is that we are clearly hoping to find ourselves in some form of negotiation - the company has said it enough times and it was repeated yesterday. Perhaps you haven't quite got the message?

Every option is being examined and unlike you, I'm capable of understanding what that means. I don't know which way this will go, although I'm perfectly clear as to which way I'd prefer. You, on the other hand, pretend you do know and present your opinion as fact. Pot, kettle.

The comments relating to slide 13 are interesting. It's blindingly obvious that ALL options are still very much on the table.

In the interests of balance, I do wonder why the Chinese, by implication, are still described as 'tyre kicking'. Presumably they had a clear idea of what they were doing when they first invested and they've had access to the data room for nearly 12 months. So the question is ; what's holding them back? They quite obviously didn't invest simply to have a punt.

Your obsession with other people's age amuses me. As with all of us, within the blink of an eye you'll wake up one morning and find you've just turned 60 and you'll think "where the hell did that go?".

In many ways you'll feel exactly as you did when you were 40, but there are differences. You'll be much wiser, you'll be less judgemental (at least most of us are, although you may an exception) and you'll look back at the arrogance of your younger years and will cringe with embarrassment as you realise just how often you made a t*t of yourself. And if you have an inquiring mind, you'll realise just how little you knew when you were younger. Something to look forward to , eh?

Wether the violence has any impact on us is a moot point. However, I've never believed SC really wants to live there for longer than he has to and he certainly won't be regarding the place as his dream retirement home.
