Rolls-Royce Holdings (LON:RR) on Monday announced an order to provide a 32.6-MW/ 65.2-MWh battery storage system that will complement the Zeewolde wind farm in the Netherlands.

The turn-key contract comes from Battery Park Zeewolde and includes a 10-year maintenance agreement. Rolls-Royce’ mtu EnergyPack QG system is planned to go live in the summer of 2025.It will support the customer in energy trading and in the grid services markets.

The 320-MW repowered Zeewolde wind farm and the new battery farm are owned by more than 200 farmers, residents and entrepreneurs from the Zeewolde area.

The Zeewolde battery facility is being constructed next to the Zeewolde wind farm substation. There is another planned battery project around the substation -- the 140-MWh BES Vogelweg Zeewolde BV development which is currently seeking a final investment for the project, says the announcement.
