There was always going to be a limit on how far Howdens could grow their business model. This is welcome news

A delayed IPO isn’t necessarily a bad thing but right now Guident is THE story as far as Tek is concerned.

If the delay improves the price when it floats then we’re all happy. Broker & analyst coverage is pretty thin but general consensus is a strong buy and a SP in the 13 - 15p area.

If it goes to that level I’m on for a decent profit. Like so many AIM shares though, its a gamble rather than an investment.

So, sales & profit up on last year despite challenging conditions and the message that the company is on track for its yearly earnings target……. and the share price FALLS over 5%

Buy on the dip I suppose

Too good to miss in my opinion and with an average of under 50p in new money terms, adding another 6000 shares on Friday was a no brainer.

Ignore the noise that’s being generated around recent results, the fundamentals remain unchanged.

Although the half year update isn’t released until late July, this is the last week of the company’s period 6, or half way through the year. It’s a significant milestone and sets the scene for the full year.

Chief executive will be meeting investors with updates and recent movements in SP suggest the results will be encouraging.

There’s not another company in their market sector delivering anything like the growth, margins or ambitions that management are projecting.

Disappointing to see large buybacks rather than an improved dividend but there’s still plenty of room for an upfift in the SP from here

Don’t look at the results in isolation. Look at the against others in the same market.

When you see Magnet closing stores left right and centre, Wren apparently facing challenges and the general merchant market in turmoil then Howdens results are outstanding.

Remember, they still have 30% of the UK kitchen market and a margin that anyone else in the industry would kill for…

While it's exciting and easy to get carried away with astronomical valuations, the market obviously recognises that there are still many, many hurdles to overcome before the resource reaches production. We'll have been bought out (hopefully) long before then.

Even a 100p price is around 13 times our current valuation. While it's not impossible, I'm keeping my feet very much on the ground until there's more detail.

I suspect there won't be an investor event on the 11th. With only a few days to go, it seems unlikely that they'll suddenly announce a time, venue etc.

I'm expecting an announcement that'll either cause the price to rocket (fingers crossed) or tank. There has to be something going on in the background that's delaying confirmation of the event.........

Interesting to see Reeves getting involved but if the test cases do show that there has been issues around mis-selling then there's surely a limit to her input.

Whether you agree with the whole fiasco or not is another matter but if the court approves the claims then the lenders will need to suck it up. I can't see how the treasury can get involved in historical mis-selling.

Following the issue of equity to members of the Guident team, the Company's shareholding in Guident has reduced from 90 per cent to 70 per cent.

You've got to wonder why Nick Lee (Mindflair director) decided in his capacity as Investment Director at RGO to sell off such a quantity of shares.

If he had an inkling that the price was going where we all hope it's going...........

It's only briefly touched that level once in the last 5 years. If it heads in that direction again then you're in danger of "catching a falling knife" - not an investment strategy that I'd be promoting.

If you want a growth stock in the construction industry then look at Howden Joinery......

I'm told the branches are busy and customers haven't been put off by the upcoming budget. Of course, Howdens progress should be measured in many ways against their competition and when Wren are shedding jobs, its an indication that the industry is facing tough times.

If Howden deliver their forecast for the year (and they're on target to do so) then it's an outstanding result in a difficult market. As things settle down going in to next year, I'm convinced double figures is achievable.

Will these remain or be re-negotiated if the sale goes ahead?

If they're re-negotiated, the terms would give a good indication of where the board and directors see the share price in 2, 3, 4 years time

There are probably some people doing alright out of this but none of those people are ordinary investors who’ve been kept in the dark and expected to support this latest fantasy.

Despite an increase in sales and market share, the nett profit was only £200k up on last year. Frankly, given the state of the market and the performance of key competitors like Magnet (who are losing stores and staff), any increase is a fantastic result.

Unfortunately, the results landed at the same time as the whole market was taking a bit of a reset.
