Natural resources-focused Red Leopard has endured a difficult few years, during which its share price has collapsed from upwards of a penny to just a tenth of that value. The downturn in the mining sector contributed to ever-widening losses and, for quite a while, it was in a dark hole that no one was sure it would climb out from. Things seemed to have turned a corner this week though, with the stock more than tripling to hit 0.2p – a level not seen since the summer of 2015. The reason for the sudden uptick is a top-down restructuring at Red Leopard. The company’s shares are (obviously) back trading on AIM now after it found a new nominated adviser, while a new non-exec has been drafted in and new investment found. Serial investor and entrepreneur Chris Akers – of Audioboom and Concha fame – has pumped in £250,000 of his own money and Red said he’ll help identify investment opportunities as it moves forward. It is likely to be a tech asset, according to one market participant who knows Akers well. His job became a little bit easier once the company revealed it had rid itself of its one and only asset – a zinc and silver project in Idaho – giving him a clean, empty shell. However it also puts Akers on the clock as Red Leopard is now an AIM Rule 15 cash shell and must make an acquisition if it wants to continue trading. Worth a punt? IMO definitely, but your post suggests you are new to investing? or just first post on LSE? Shells may not be for newbie investors, but I think this one is well worth an investment. The potential on shells is usually several bags once they get a deal. Given the way this has become a shell and the people involved, I expect that a deal is already lined up and we will not have long to wait. I am actually putting a bit more in here as I hope to see a good return! No guarantees but 6 months is the timescale (as per AIM rules) from when it become a shell, so that works for me. If you are new to investing, best not to put all your eggs in one basket, it can be volatile investing on AIM. As always on AIM, it is a case of Risk and Reward. Aberdeenman

Despite the negativity I am still holding as I know with shells, once an deal is announced it can have a huge upward effect on the share price. So why Hayward? His background is in commodity equity management and in commodity company's mostly as a NED. There was obviously his stint as Interim CEO at Afren which is well documented for both negative and positive reasons. He has, however, mostly been in companies 'of scale' which would point to the prospective deal being 'of scale'. Add in Chris Akers involvement, this leads me to think that there is decent money to be made here, maybe not a long term investment but that suits me! For balance I have mentioned there most certainly are negatives here, DYOR as ever I shall not be blaming anyone but myself if this does not work out, but the prospect of several bags within, at the very most, 5 months or so makes it a compelling risk/reward play for me. No worries Dutch. My view is that although there is risk, the potential rewards make the risk worthwhile. Despite their being negativity around both Chris Akers and Toby Hayward, is does signal to me that there is a substantial (relatively) deal being pursued. Chris is involved in another few companies that have done very well including EVRH, but obviously there is the negative with Yolo for Akers and Afren for Hayward. Just a case of DYOR, and your risk appetite. Whatever happens I think a deal will emerge, albeit with dilution (inevitable with Shells) and that there are a good few bags to be made here once the deal is announced. Just my view please DYOR. Sorry for off topic Hi DownD, Not putting the exact figure on here, but it is in the low millions (plural) I do have a very low average, and don't think it is game over by a long chalk. At worst think we will trade on NEX, but I have been in dual AIM/ NEX (ISDX as was) shares before, and it was seamless from my broker, so not too concerned. With a positive outcome I will be back in the money, although I am aware it is not as easy for others. For various reasons I didn't follow my gut instinct on CTAG, which is when investing a large sum, always meet the BOD face to face. ABH always shied away from direct contact, we all know why now. Anyway lesson learnt on that front, will follow my own rules fully from now on. No one gets it right all the time, although trolls often latch onto easy targets, so they may claim they do. Rich.T (or crumbly) is a known troll. He constantly trolls the 88e board, seizing on or making up any negativity he can find. Certainly no balance there. On here I have posted many times there is risk, and on CTAG, the CEO was telling porkies, but I have been critical of management since end of last year. Rampers don't mention any negativity, just as rich being a troll doesn't give any balanced views on 88e, or any other he trolls. In fact he is not even invested there. Still haven't read anything that shows a major red flag from Hayward being at Afren, although there was one FT article that said he was inexperienced at running an Oil company and made mistakes, but given he was an Interim CEO in a crisis not sure I can blame him for that. Will keep looking. Aberdeenman

From what I have read he was a Non Executive Director at the time the payments came to light and was then appointed as Interim CEO, when they came to light. I doubt that would have been his preference, but was the best person available. As a Non Exec he could not be held responsible for oversight of payments. Have you links that say otherwise? Great that they are getting fresh blood in, after the previous incarnation of RLH, it is needed, Toby was the guy who took the reigns at Afren and sacked the CEO and COO after they were found with their hands in the till (allegedly) I think the damage was done by then though with the oil price collapse and the company went under after he left Afren.
