They have been keeping the details of the "truly ground-breaking" technology under their hat until patent application was submitted. You have to suspect this has just taken a little longer than anticipated. I'm fine with that, in my world at work, things nearly always take a little longer than planned.
Now that the patent application has been submitted with a potential 20 year protection, they can really 'up the ante' with prospective partners.
He was very clear in saying 1. No placing and 2. Future funding will come from deals. Absolutely explicit. You will hear it for yourself.
I genuinely thought a placing was on the cards (as a holder of 2m+ shares) and to some degree I was OK with that given the placing was likely to be at higher levels post-patent application submission. However it's such a positive this isn't the case and very happy to be wrong.
Finally, I suspect any reference to working on deals over the last several months relates to other products in their portfolio - which Tim has always said things like "watch out for a few surprises". However, you have to feel like the priority has been this patent application for P140, and that's certainly where the cash has been spent.
