If you strip it back to its absolute basics, the money makers in the company consist of a gas fitter an electrician and a team peddling energy for a profit (ideally). You need well motivated people for this company to function well. P*ss them of what do you think will happen when they can find work elsewhere due to a national shortage of these skills.
The only fly in the ointment is retaining the customers, until they can sort out the energy supply side of things they will never be able to compete, in the meantime and looking through the records they could rely on the Engineers to turn more profit, to plug the gap, they can always turn to the very positive industrial relations with a willing workforce to do more than hours than they are paid.
Wait a minute , a floor in that plan too.
Employe contractors- great they can just bash the jobs in , customers will never know that the premium service they pay for means they get a contractor, I guess they won't mind, would you?
Unfortunately, that is the crux of it really, but it will be a very bad day for all UK employees. Companies will be free to rip up contracts whenever they feel like it.
I wonder if this will eventually impact investors only then will they demand change.
Only time will tell
