It's not standard stuff in my mail centre. Duties are tightly held for many years, people don't like to be moved. Lots of sick lame and lazy on the manual letter areas, hence " if you can't do parcels then you're out the door." 9 month's pay I believe, possibly tax free?

Scrapping 50% of manual letter and flat duties. Staff moved to parcels. Those that can't are offered medical retirement. No manual inward/intra mail to be sorted on lates. Lots of SA's being scrapped. Stricter enforcement of breaks and start finish times and manual sort rates. " We all have to pull together" pep talks.

Without working for RM for a few years you can't really understand the situation. Support for CWU might seem irrational to some on here but it's like having an older brother who sticks up for you when you're bullied. Management are devious and corrupt and it's okay having a particular rule or law to protect you but in reality, if you are mistreated, they are difficult to enforce. Whereas if you have a good union they will ensure that you are treated fairly. Lots of workplace injustice in this country and plenty of bullying so we need our big bruv and need to trust and support him. People say it's a throw back to the 70s but no union is a throw back to Victorian times.
