2018 interview15 Jan 2022 22:15
Dug out an interview on VOX with the Chairman back in 2018. Very interesting to listen in the context of recent developments and apparent direction.
Kind of by the by to start with but interestingly he mentioned a company they were working with called "Where is my cargo", saying it's a company name that "says what it does".... I'm sure he's been a strong proponent of the recent STAR > TRAC ebranding exercise! Listen to all the product names - quite a mouthful!
Focus on tracking and securing of high value assets.
Receiving "approaches from quite major companies seeking to work together to develop products together based on our technology".
"Being taken seriously"
"The companies we are named as being alongside are the likes of Honeywell and IBM... illustrates that we are being taken seriously". I have seen this. If you look at industry events, white papers etc you will indeed see Starcom named alongside these sorts of companies, as a major player in the industry.
Emphasis on SaaS recurring revs on top of the hardware sale.
Stated increasing focus on container market - serious 2022 relevance - the coming of age of IoT and supply chain issues we are seeing... Note recent RNSs!!
And don't forget CropX. Monitor and optimise crop irrigation etc (and more, no doubt). Can only be a (yawn ;)) growth industry.
And as he says, great management skin in the game! And they really backed the business in the last year or two with salary cuts and the like. Demonstrated genuine commitment and now we are starting to see why.
And then the longstanding engagement with DHL and a POC ongoing at a Singapore distribution hub tracking and securing high value assets - DHL POC - the here and now....
I appreciate this is VERY brain dump-y but wanted ti share my thoughts on the interview.
