Auson, its hard to be specific as the data can vary in age and quality.
Having carried out register analysis on a professional basis what we see is nothing like the actual changes happening day to day, sometimes they are so far apart it may as well be two different companies.
That said, I have never come across a situation such as this with S4, even allowing for inherent delays there is a clear month on month trend of accumulation, this is unlikely to change imo.
Fund managers are the most stubborn of people, when they decide to buy in (or conversely sell) they tend to stick to their guns, seldom changing unless their is a major event.
Whilst Bloomberg is good, the data is the same as posted here with the exception of self dec, this is where Bloomberg terminal users can notify the data team of any changes up/down, however it is only accurate if the data team keep on top of it and if users report every move.
To get an accurate picture the best way is to use a service such as Argus Vickers, here in the UK we have a disclosure notice (S793) which can be served to find out who owns what, Argus Vickers will issue these notices as part of their service.
