i3 Energy Plc (LON: I3E) have seen their shares rocket after a potential groundbreaking discovery made at its Serenity oilfield in the UK central North Sea.

The UK-focused oil and gas firm said the Serenity 13/23c-10 well, located on its completely owned Serenity compound had preliminary well results consistent with i3’s 197 million barrels stock tank original oil-in-place for the Serenity closure in the licence area.

This potential phase one development will target 63 million barrels, through four wells ensuring that i3’s revised expected recoverable reserves stands at 23 million barrels.

Phase two will target 396 million barrels STOIIP via further exploration drilling.

The Standing Committee of the 13th National People’s Congress in China passed a cryptography law on Saturday that will be effective on January 1, 2020, according to a Chinese media report.

The announcement came one day after Chinese President Xi Jinping called on the country to seize opportunities in blockchain technology.

While China still bans cryptocurrency trading and its national digital currency is not yet hatched, cryptography, as an integral underpinning of blockchain technology, could be key to the country’s push to be more competitive in the blockchain space.

The Netherlands recently announced that production at Groningen – Europe’s largest gas field – will be halted in 2022, eight years earlier than initially planned. However, despite the ambitious target of decommissioning the field by 2022, Rystad Energy expects that there could be some residual production from Groningen up to 2030 as it is technically challenging to completely shut down production in such a short timeframe.

The drastic drop in output from Groningen will redefine the European energy landscape. The field, which had a rebound in production at the start of this century, reaching 57 billion cubic meters (Bcm) in 2013, was for decades the central cog in northwest Europe’s gas system.

“The phase-out of this giant field will force Europe to expand its gas imports at an even quicker pace. We can already see this drastic shift taking place in the Netherlands, which is in the midst of the transition from being a net gas exporter to a net importer,” says Carlos Torres-Diaz, head of gas markets research at Rystad Energy." ...

I'm not sure thats the case at the mo re: cavendish... I don't think Cav are selling much more than housekeeping now so are no longer 'particularly' contributing to holding the SP back ... seems to me Cav is holding as much as realistically possible in both funds... something that fits in with AA's comments recently and bodes well imo.

I think current selling pressure holding the SP in range is what Mac have left (assuming L&G have gone by now.... along with other sub 3% large holders de-risking, rebalancing or just getting bored. (it was boring around 6p eh)

Of course... Institutional buying can also lead to the SP being managed in range just as much as selling.

I figure it looks like we have had around 10% of the company churned between Cav rebalancing / Mac and L&G selling and PIs. That's in just less than 3 months or so since re-list ... how much left ? I'd guess at 2-3% ?

It will all come out in the wash but a few more weeks to clear sellers followed by a steady move up and a £500m deal will do me for a happy xmas :)
