Trumps declaring China is disrespectful to the United States because they haven't backed down to mighty mouses tariff threats.

Only two days prior to Thursday the Vice President of the USA accused the Chinese as peasants,. This went viral to hundreds of millions tweeting in Asia. According to Trump everything beautiful, just great & going to be great for the USA....gl!!!

One thing I do know, neither Vance or Trump have a proverbial clue about supply chains.

Trump by default owning prime real estate has made him wealthy (spring board) he is a confused soul & thinks it's his business acumen.

The USA by their own free will have part service economy....it is USA company's who travel to trade shows right across the world, visit factories set deals for the benefit of the USA consumer.

If Trump wants to move to a more Industrial economy then do so over X years and address forty years of spending money that you don't have 37 Trillion.....but hey ho everyone is ripping of the America...yeah right!

Interesting take with Asian analysts this morning.

A 50% tariff on China would wipe 1.5% of China's GDP

At 100% tariff on China would bring China to zero GDP

From there 150- 10,000% tariff is irrelevant the number would put China into minus 3% without a stimulus package & of course China will devalue it's currency to being the minus 3% back to zero growth.........this is the worst scenario.

Now it's totally different for an American service economy.

60% of Walmarts entire shelf stock is from China....Walmart customers are middle lower income Americans who have less disposable income.

Target similar stats. Amazon similar Stats

Then Discount retailers which is the reality/majority of Americans buy the mass markets consumer goods.

It's the same in the UK.....I should know because I used to own a chemical company that supplied mass market & high end markets with different brand Identity .....all manufactured in the UK however my point being as an example 1 fairy liquid sold in Tesco then 20 me too alternative sold to discount retailers whose customers simply do not have higher disposable income.

We bought GFK data on a weekly bases which produced every single unit sold in every outlet.

America has the same customers different badge above the door.

Let's hope we can get some balance back into the markets.

If memory serves me correctly, we both traded AVIVA in 2010.....from 235p and they recovered with dividends.

BP will recover, it may take a few quarters.

@Crossley,....AV have been to me, I bought back some position that I thankfully sold many weeks ago (managed begining with a 4:) Turmoil Monday!

Also added PHNX & again this morning.

I'm over exposed with LGEN, however the company is returning 40% of it's market cap over the next 3 years in divs and buy packs which I'm sure you know. (More for other interested posters)

I have to add MNG to average down.

Dividends with all the above... awesome.

@stevebt.....I almost dipped the toe in with ABDN @146p many weeks ago to see them rise 178p before ex div period....kicked my self.

They seem to retrace harder than peers. From memory there's another divi late summer.
