YOLO says TVPlayer signs agreement with ITV, Channel 4 & Channel 5

(ShareCast News) - YOLO, an AIM listed investment company focused on travel, technology and leisure, has announced that TVPlayer has signed an agreement with ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5.YOLO invests in TVPlayer's parent company Simplestream.The agreement would give the rights to simulcast the broadcasters' free to air channels on TVPlayer.TVPlayer is an online TV platform which streams live TV across multiple devices with over 1m viewers per month.The channels include ITV 1, ITV 2, ITV 3, ITV 4, ITV Be, CITV, Channel 4, More4, 4Seven, Channel 5, 5STAR and Spik. The deal will bring up the total number of channels offered to over 100.These would be made available to all existing TVPlayer customers across a range of devices including desktops, mobiles, tablets, Apple TV, Samsung Smart TV, Amazon Fire TV and various other set-top boxes. In addition to live streaming over wired internet or WiFi, the channels can also be accessed over 3G and 4G.TVPlayer generates revenue through an ad supported free-to-air TVPlayer service and a paid subscription service with TVPlayer Plus of £4.99 a month.Founder of TVPlayer Adam Smith, said: "This is a significant move for the growth of our platform. Adding the UK's key commercial broadcasters to our growing portfolio is a major benefit to our viewers as TVPlayer provides some of the UK's best channels in one app.Chief executive Simon Robinson said: "This is great news for TVPlayer to sign licensing agreements with some of the UK's key commercial broadcasters and quickly follows on from the recent multi-year agreement with Viacom, one of the world's largest media companies."The share price rose 0.29% to 1.05p at 1006 BST.
