Wynnstay names former Westfalia Fruit head as next CEO

Fri, 13th Sep 2024 12:30

(Alliance News) - Wynnstay Group PLC on Friday said Alk Brand will join the company as its next head following the resignation of Gareth Davies earlier this year.

The Powys, Wales-based agricultural products and services company said in February that Chief Executive Officer Gareth Davies would step down from his role to focus on a "serious family matter" while remaining on the board.

On Friday the appointment of Alk Brand as CEO was confirmed with him due to start with the company on October 1, relieving Chair Steve Ellwood who acted as CEO on an interim basis since February.

Wynnstay said: "Alk Brand's appointment follows the completion of a thorough recruitment process to identify a suitable successor to Gareth. Alk, aged 59 years, is a highly experienced CEO, with a significant understanding of the agricultural sector, supply chains, farming co-operatives, and food markets. He was previously CEO for four years of Westfalia Fruit Group, the UK-headquartered multinational supplier of fresh fruit and plant-based products to international retail, foodservice and wholesale markets."

Additionally, Finance Director Rob Thomas has had his portfolio redefined and on October 1 he becomes chief financial officer.

Wynnstay shares were up 1.0% at 338.50 pence each in London on Friday afternoon.
