Westminster Group launches cybersecurity branch, discusses contracts

Mon, 28th Jul 2025 14:28

(Alliance News) - Westminster Group PLC on Monday said it has established a new Cyber & Defence Technology division to service government and corporate customers.

The Banbury, Oxfordshire-based security and technology services firm said its new business will provide "a range of solutions" to cybercrime.

"Whilst we already have a wide portfolio of security and non-aggressive defence solutions being delivered through our various operating companies, we believe establishing a division focused on the growing threats from conflict and cyberattack would be beneficial in establishing Westminster as a leader in this area," explained Chief Executive Peter Fowler.

"To those ends, we are already in discussions with potential partners and specialist manufacturers in the sector to provide additional products and solutions that we believe will lead to an exciting future expansion of our services."

The firm cited cyberattacks on retailers such as Marks & Spencer Group PLC and Cartier, part of Compagnie Financiere Richemont SA, as indicators of a growing digital defence market, and the need "for key employees to be trained in the advanced skills to deal with cyberattacks".

Westminster Group has not provided details of potential contracts for the new division, but says it is in talks with possible partners.

The firm's shares were 0.8% higher at 2.42 pence on Monday afternoon in London.
