(Alliance News) - URA Holdings PLC on Monday celebrated further progress at the Gravelotte Emerald Mine in South Africa, which it is planning to restart.
The Africa-focused mineral exploration company told investors that it has now amassed an available stockpile of 2,500 tonnes of ore, as preparations continue for commissioning and the start of processing operations.
The stockpile material was taken from the nearby Cobra Pit, and is being held outside the processing plant. Additional emerald bearing ore from the Discovery pit will be added to the stockpile feed material over the coming weeks, URA added.
Further, the firm has started to install essential components for the optical sorter, including feed bins, conveyor belts, compressors, and vibrating motors.
"Our team is making continued progress towards the commissioning phase of both the processing plant and the optical sorter. With a substantial ore stockpile ready for processing and the optical sorter's components being systematically assembled, we remain on-track with the commission and restart of mining and processing operations on schedule," said Chief Executive Officer Bernard Olivier.
URA Holdings shares were trading 2.2% higher at 1.84 pence each in London on Monday morning.
