Ten Alps Wins BAFTA For Channel 4's 'The Murder Detectives'

Wed, 11th May 2016 08:15

LONDON (Alliance News) - Multimedia production company Ten Alps PLC on Wednesday noted its television division won a BAFTA for best factual series with 'The Murder Detectives', which ran on Channel 4 in November.

The three-part series followed a police investigation into the murder of a Bristol teenager.

Ten Alps also was nominated in the same category for its 'Great Ormond Street' series, which ran on the BBC and focused on cases of children undergoing treatment for life-threatening illnesses at the London hospital.

In addition, 'The Murder Detectives' won two categories in the BAFTA Craft awards, which precede the main BAFTA event and recognise behind-the-scenes technical excellence. The categories were for Factual Director and Factual Editing.

"Our strategy is to focus our factual and documentary production businesses on higher-value, returnable series and in particular to secure more commissions in the US. The imprimatur of a BAFTA has as much impact in that market as it does in the UK and will certainly assist our current discussions with broadcasters in both markets," Chief Executive Mark Wood said in a statement.

Shares in Ten Alps were trading up 6.8% at 1.87 pence on Wednesday morning.
