Vodafone Group is on the slide after Verizon Communications chief executive Ivan Seidenberg said he could see little compelling reason for the two companies to merge. Verizon and Vodafone's US joint venture Verizon Wireless is one of the major US mobile telecoms businesses. Verizon owns a controlling stake. Verizon Wireless is investing $7.8bn in 2010 in order to add capacity to its 3G network in Kentucky. Vodafone's Indian offshoot Vodafone Essar is still in the running to bid for radio bandwidth for 3G services in India. It is one of nine firms on the final bidding list for the auction on Friday. Vodafone Essar is also one of 11 companies bidding in the auction of bandwidth to offer broadband wireless access. Electronic components manufacturer e2v Technologies is still benefiting from last week's positive restructuring statement. The company is selling its Lincoln site for £4.2m with potential for more cash depending on the development on the land. The restructuring of the Grenoble facility in France had been a problem but labour relations have improved and the restructuring is being implemented. A trading statement will be issued on 12 April.
