Increased medical technology sales at
BATM Advanced Communications Ltd failed to offset the decline in telecommunications equipment revenues. Overall revenues fell by one-fifth to $55.3m in the six months to June 2010. Medical revenues are more than one-third of the total. A profit of $13.7m was turned into a loss of $338,000 in the latest six month period. Net cash and investments were $56.9m at the end of June 2010. Since then $8.13m has been paid in dividends. BATM's main telecoms customer has been hit by Chinese competition. BATM is trying to widen its customer base and that is leading to higher overheads. KBC Peel Hunt forecasts a full year profit of $6.9m. In the second half, medical should continue to grow revenues and telecoms should recover. Positive trial results for Arzerra (Ofatumumab) for chronic lymphocytic leukemia have boosted
GlaxoSmithKline. The results are consistent with the efficacy and safety data in the interim analysis. A total of 95 patients were treated. There is a co-development and commercialisation agreement between Genmab and GlaxoSmithKline.FTSE TechMARK - RisersAlterian (ALN) 167.00p +3.73%Axis-Shield (ASD) 280.00p +3.32%Emblaze (BLZ) 39.00p +3.31%Psion (PON) 85.50p +3.01%Vernalis (VER) 37.00p +2.78%Shire Plc (SHP) 1,495.00p +1.63%GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) 1,167.00p +1.30%AstraZeneca (AZN) 3,345.50p +1.23%Oxford Biomedica (OXB) 10.00p +1.21%Ricardo Group (RCDO) 250.00p +1.21%FTSE TechMARK - FallersOptos (OPTS) 95.00p -6.40%AEA Technology (AAT) 16.75p -4.29%Innovation Group (TIG) 11.25p -4.26%BATM Advanced (BVC) 24.75p -3.88%Electronic Data Processing (EDP) 48.00p -3.12%Torotrak (TRK) 22.75p -2.15%Ark Therapeutics (AKT) 5.50p -2.14%Triad Group (TRD) 25.00p -2.00%Vislink (VLK) 18.75p -1.32%Skyepharma (SKP) 39.50p -1.25%
