Sunday share tips: Glaxo, Genel, Treatt

Buy shares of Genel Energy, Danny Fortson urged in the Sunday Times's Inside the City column. The oil explorer sold a tanker of crude from Kurdistan last month for the market rate of more than $100 a barrel. Previous sales have been below the Brent crude price because of lack of infrastructure and political tension in Iraq. The sale is ahead of Chief Executive Tony Hayward's timetable and increases the chances of him paying a special dividend from Genel's $600m cash. Genel's shares have barely risen this year but things could be coming good for the company.Buy shares of GlaxoSmithKline, the Sunday Telegraph's Questor tipster said. There are risks involved because Glaxo is under investigation by the Serious Fraud Office after its was accused of corruption in China and other countries. If the US and UK decided to fine Glaxo it would be serious for the company but it can't be punished for the same offence twice and governments want Glaxo's drugs in development to succeed. Yes, there are risks but the company's exciting drug pipeline is the fundamental way to value the company.Buy shares of Treatt as it embarks on a new strategy, Midas advised in the Mail on Sunday. The maker of flavours and fragrances for food drinks and toiletries has traded for more than 100 years and has been listed on the stock market since 1989. It has been run more like a family company but is now headed by Daemmon Reeve, who more than tripled profits at the US division in three years.
