Salt Lake Potash Hires Fortescue Metals Executive As New CEO

Mon, 22nd Oct 2018 11:17

LONDON (Alliance News) - Salt Lake Potash Ltd said on Monday it has appointed Tony Swericzuk as managing director and chief executive officer with effect from November 5.

He replaces Matthew Symbe, who will remain as a director and consultant to the company to ensure a seamless handover.

Swiericzuk will join Salt Lake Potash from Australian iron ore company Fortescue Metals Group where he spent nine years since 2009, leaving as director for business development & exploration.

"We are delighted to have secured the services of an outstanding mining executive to lead the company into development and production at the Goldfields Salt Lakes project. Tony's skills base is ideal for us and not easy to find, so we are particularly pleased that he has accepted the role based on his enthusiasm for the sector, absolute belief in the quality of the GSLP assets and strong determination to develop the first salt lake SOP operation in Australia," said Chairman Ian Middlemas.

Shares in Salt Lake Potash were up 8.6% at 28.22 pence on Monday in London.
