Wed, 01st Jul 2015 11:25

LONDON (Alliance News) - Rightster Group PLC Wednesday announced it has partnered with Universal Pictures International to promote its new film 'Minions' across territories in Asia Pacific, South America and Europe.

No financial details of the partnership were disclosed. Rightster distributes and monetises digital video. The two companies will use audience data to select what it calls "influencers" on digital platforms Instagram, Snapchat and Vine. These "influencers" are generally social media stars or individuals with large groups of followers, who will then be asked to develop and upload 'Minions' themed content.

Rightster conducted a campaign earlier this month for Universal in relation to the film on video platform YouTube to promote the film.

"We're delighted with the output from our ongoing relationship with NBC Universal and Universal Pictures International. The innovative social influencer campaign which we have launched with Universal Pictures International to promote the Minions film is really exciting. It demonstrates the growing influence of platforms such as Instagram, Snapchat and Vine and how they can be used effectively to generate and amplify engagement on a local and global level," said Chief Executive Officer Patrick Walker in a statement.

Shares in Rightster are trading up 5.1% at 15.24 pence Wednesday morning.
