Oriole posts positive results from Bibemi soil sampling

(Sharecast News) - West Africa-focussed exploration company Oriole Resources announced results from the recently-completed soil sampling programme at its 90%-owned Bibemi gold project in Cameroon on Wednesday.
The AIM-traded firm said the results returned up to 271 parts of gold per billion, and confirmed continuity of the Bakassi Zone 1 prospect by about three kilometres to the southwest, connecting it with the Lawa West prospect.

It said soil sampling was completed for 1,455 samples over the southern half of Bibemi, extending and infilling historical regional sampling grids.

Phase three diamond drilling at Bakassi Zone 1, meanwhile, was also complete, with the results expected in the first quarter of 2022.

"We're pleased to see that these results have demonstrated a clear continuity of gold anomalism between the Bakassi Zone 1 and Lawa West prospects, despite there being only limited veins outcropping at surface," said executive director Claire Bay.

"The gold system at Bibemi is now confirmed over a strike length of almost 12 kilometres at surface."

Bay said a trenching programme would now be designed over the strongest anomalies at Lawa West and Lawa East, to help identify potential drilling targets to follow the pilot campaign completed last year.

"We also look forward to receiving results from the recently completed phase three drilling at Bakassi Zone 1, later this quarter."

At 1403 GMT, shares in Oriole Resources were up 3.62% at 0.36p. Oriole Resources
