(Alliance News) - MOD Resources Ltd on Tuesday said its environmental & social impact assessment for a Botswana project has progressed to public review.
This follows the Department for Environmental Affairs decided MOD has fully identified potential risks and impacts from the proposed T3 copper mine.
The public review will last for four weeks, and parties who may be affected by the mine's developments can contact the department. Following the review, MOD expects to be able to apply for a mining licence.
Managing Director Julian Hanna said: "The release of the environmental & social impact assessment for public review is a very important milestone towards being granted a mining licence for the proposed T3 open pit mine and processing plant.
"The Department for Environmental Affairs has maintained an open and streamlined review process and the environmental & social impact assessment has received a high level of scrutiny which has involved consultation with many stakeholders in the district. The outcome is a testament to the quality of work that our staff and consultants in Perth and Botswana have produced."
"The T3 copper mine is expected to be a significant contributor to the local Ghanzi economy for many years, while operating to the highest health, safety and environmental standards," Hanna continued.
"We recognise the importance of a robust consultation and approvals process and our community relations team has done an outstanding job in conveying the significant and lasting value we expect to bring to the region."
MOD's announcement was noted by investor Metal Tiger PLC, which has an 11% stake in MOD.
MOD shares were untraded on Tuesday afternoon in London, last quoted at 22.00 pence, with Metal Tiger flat at 1.20p.
