(Alliance News) - Melrose Industries PLC on Wednesday said local authorities have lifted the remaining mandatory evacuation area around GKN Aerospace's Garden Grove facility in California following an incident at the site earlier this week.
The Birmingham, England-based aerospace and defence business said the Orange County Fire Authority announced at 7.30 pm local time on Tuesday that all mandatory evacuation orders had been lifted, although a small temporary restricted zone remains directly surrounding the facility.
Melrose said the fire authority publicly confirmed that no chemical leak had occurred and that there is no risk to the public.
The company added that work continues with local authorities and customers on operational recovery and supply plans.
The Garden Grove site, operated by GKN Aerospace Transparency Systems, a Melrose subsidiary, designs and manufactures advanced military and commercial transparencies and provides aftermarket support services.
Melrose shares were down 0.9% at 478.00 pence in London on Wednesday morning.
