M&S CEO says government food price cap idea 'completely preposterous'

LONDON, May ​20 (Reuters) - ⁠The ​chief executive of British ​retailer ‌Marks & Spencer ⁠Stuart Machin ⁠said that any ​move by the UK ​government ‌to cap some food ​prices would be "completely ‌preposterous".

He added that if ‌the government wanted to help ​ensure lower food prices ‌there are actions it ⁠could ⁠take to ‌reduce pressure on ​retailers' costs. (Reporting ​by ‌James Davey, writing by Sarah Young)
