Lonmin dismisses restructuring rumours

Tue, 26th Aug 2014 14:39
South African platinum miner Lonmin claimed on Tuesday there was no foundation to media speculation about plans to restructure the business.Currently, "no decisions" about the size or shape of a restructuring have been made, the group said.Lonmin has faced five months of industrial action over pay and terms of service by miners at its South African pits, which ended when the company and unions thrashed out a three-year deal in June."Lonmin's immediate focus following the five-month strike is to achieve a safe ramp-up of production to rebuild the business and restore profitability," the statement read. "Crucial to the process are safety, containing costs and maximising productivity."It added that the ramp-up was progressing better than planned and that it would provide an update in due course. The FTSE 250-listed group's share price climbed 1.47% to 220.70p by 14:38.NR
