(Alliance News) - Kodal Minerals PLC on Tuesday said a security guard has passed away following an attack outside the entrance to the Bougouni lithium mine in Mali.
Shares in the West Africa-focused mineral explorer and developer fell 6.3% to 0.30 pence on Tuesday afternoon in London.
Kodal Minerals said military forces positioned at the site engaged with assailants on motorcycles on Friday last week. The company said an employee of its security contractor died at the scene.
"The company is working closely with Mali government officials and the military security presence on site has been increased to ensure the security and wellbeing of staff and contractors at the mine," said Kodal Minerals.
It added that mining and processing activities at the mine have not been impacted by the incident.
