Kodal Minerals says export discussions with Malian government continue

Mon, 19th May 2025 13:42

(Alliance News) - Kodal Minerals PLC on Monday said it continued to be in discussions with the government of Mali on finalising the export permit for spodumene produced at its flagship Bougouni Lithium project in southern Mali.

The West Africa-focused mineral explorer and developer noted media reports which "speculated" the blocking of exports of spodumene concentrates produced at the project. The company said such reports were incorrect.

Kodal said the government of Mali has been "very supportive of the development of Bougouni and this support continues in the ongoing export permit discussions, and it is acknowledged that it is in the interests of the parties to commence exports of spodumene concentrates as soon as possible."

Further, Kodal has now over 27,000 tonnes of spodumene concentrate ready for export.

The firm added: "Kodal also wishes to confirm that operations continue as normal, with the ramp up to nameplate production of the processing plant remaining firmly on track. Kodal's Chief Executive Officer Bernard Aylward, is currently in Mali and visiting the operations to review the progress of the mining, processing and exploration drilling that is continuing to expand the project."

Kodal shares were 2.6% higher at 0.32 pence each on Monday afternoon in London.
