ITM Power selected for German energy projects totalling 710 megawatts

Fri, 21st Nov 2025 09:49

(Alliance News) - ITM Power on Friday said it has been chosen by Stablegrid Group as the technology partner and supplier for two energy infrastructure projects in Germany.

The Sheffield, England-based designer and manufacturer of electrolyser systems for green hydrogen production said the two projects total 710 megawatts of electrolyser capacity.

The projects are intended to balance the grid and stabilise the power system to absorb discrepancies between electricity supply and hydrogen consumption, the company said.

Netzbrucke 410 is the first project and is based in Rustringen. ITM Power said it will supply a 30 MW green hydrogen production plant based on its Neptune V containerised electrolysers, including integration works.

Stablegrid expects to take the final investment decision on the project in 2026, and has reserved ITM Power production capacity accordingly, the company said.

The second project involves installing 680 MW of indoor electrolyser capacity. Stablegrid and ITM Power will begin the pre-front-end engineering design work in January 2026. ITM Power said it anticipates the final investment decision for this second project to be taken in 2028.

Stablegrid is a Germany-based company which initiates, supports and implements infrastructure projects.

ITM Power's Chief Executive Dennis Schulz said: "Partnering with Stablegrid on these landmark grid balancing projects in Germany reinforces ITM's position at the forefront of the energy transition in Europe's largest economy."

Shares in ITM Power rose 5.9% to 75.79 pence on Friday morning in London.
