Intertek Unveils Cybersecurity Certification Product Cyber Assured

Mon, 25th Nov 2019 17:16

(Alliance News) - Intertek Group PLC said Monday it has launched Cyber Assured, a cybersecurity product testing and certification programme.

Intertek claimed the certification product is the first security product able to continuously monitor system vulnerability. The company said Cyber Assured allows customers to "continually assess" their products security.

"In recent years, the rapid growth in connected smart devices has led to heightened expectations around product security whilst the growth in the Internet of Things (IoT) has meant IoT-enabled products and smart devices have become more readily available. More products than ever are communicating with each other using technologies such as Wi-fi, Bluetooth, or cellular IoT," the FTSE 100-listed company said.

As a result, Intertek said, cybercrime now "permeates every element of consumers' lives".

Chief Executive Andre Lacroix said: "The Internet of Things (IoT) revolution has led to a rapid rise in the world's network of smart devices, with everything from lightbulbs to fridges, vehicles to pacemakers, now part of a truly connected world. With this development has come a corresponding increase in the complexity and sophistication of cyber security threats that companies now face.

"Our Cyber Assured offering heralds a breakthrough innovation as the very first end-to-end assurance solution that covers the entirety of IoT networks, enabling customers to launch secure, connected products, monitoring their security over the full lifecycle. This launch further strengthens our leading presence and expertise in the global cyber security certification and assurance space, bringing total peace of mind for our clients and their customers."

Shares in Intertek closed 0.7% higher in London on Monday at 5,544.00 pence each.
