Resolute Mining Ltd - Perth, Australia-based, Africa-focused gold miner - Says it is aware of media reports regarding recent security incidents and unrest in Bamako and four other cities in central and northern parts of Mali. Resolute Mining says its Syama operation, located in southern Mali in the Sikasso region, continues to operate without interruption. Further, it notes there has been no impact on the safety of personnel, supply chain or production.
On Saturday, Mali's defence minister, Sadio Camara, was assassinated amid a series of joint coordinated attacks across Mali.
"Resolute continues to closely monitor the situation and remains in regular contact with local authorities, security advisors and in‑country teams," the company says. "The safety and wellbeing of employees and contractors remain the company's highest priority, and established security and travel protocols are in place."
