Imagination Technologies celebrates 'barnstorming year'

Wed, 16th Jan 2013 07:43
Communications technologies company Imagination Technologies has reported 'significant growth' in its penetration of TV and other consumer markets, according to a statement issued on Wednesday morning. The group, which didn't quantify the trend in its most recent statement, described its systems-on-chips partners as being at the "heart of the smart revolution" in consumer electronics, adding that this technology relied on multimedia which would enable rich graphics and connectivity giving devices so-called "live" intelligence and social media. The statement follows the company signing an additional license agreement with Mediatek on Tuesday for a multi-core member of Imagination's PowerVR SGX Series5XT graphics processor family, to be deployed in SoC (system on chip) devices targeting the digital TV market. Tony King-Smith, Vice President of Marketing at Imagination, said: "It's been another barnstorming year for Imagination at CES 2013 [a technology conference and exhibition], with record numbers of meetings with our many licensee, tools, developer and OEM partners."MF
