Greggs chooses Just Eat for UK delivery roll-out

Wed, 15th Jan 2020 12:35

(Sharecast News) - Greggs has chosen Just Eat for its upcoming delivery roll-out across the UK instead of rival Deliveroo.
The bakery chain, which had been considering both delivery companies after successful trials in 2019, announced on Wednesday that it would work exclusively with Just Eat.

The service was already available in London, Newcastle and Glasgow.

Delivery services were start during the present week in Bristol and Birmingham and would also be available in Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield and Nottingham in the spring.

The company was aiming to have the delivery services available throughout the country by the end of 2020.

Greggs chief executive Roger Whiteside said: "We know from the trials we have carried out, that our customers love the idea that they can get Greggs delivered directly to their door and we're delighted to now be working with Just Eat to provide that service to our customers across the UK by the end of this year."

Just Eat UK managing director Andrew Kenny said: "This is an exciting exclusive partnership for Just Eat. Greggs has proved extremely popular with our customers, especially during breakfast, demonstrating that as a nation we love the convenience of getting our favourite food delivered - be it a Greggs bacon baguette and coffee on a Tuesday or your local Thai at the weekend."

Greggs was also planning to increase the operating hours of more of its shops from 6pm to 9pm.
