German MiRo refinery: one crude oil distillation facility down for repairs

Thu, 05th Jan 2023 11:02

FRANKFURT, Jan 5 (Reuters) - Germany's MiRo refinery <C}RO7309414342>, which is partly owned by Russia's Rosneft, on Thursday said one of its crude oil distillation facilities is down for repair work and was expected to remain out of service for around four weeks.

"Due to a technical defect in a furnace ... MiRO took one of the total of three crude oil distillation plants out of operation on Dec. 25, 2022," the company said in emailed comments.

"The decommissioning was carried out safely and in a controlled manner. The repair work is currently running according to plan."

MiRo (Mineraloelraffinerie Oberrhein) said the delivery rates of the two remaining crude oil distillation plants were increased to optimise utilisation but did not provide further details on current volumes.

MiRo employs around 1,100 staff and its shareholders include Phillips 66, ExxonMobil's Esso, Shell and Rosneft, whose stake has been put under German trusteeship last year.

It refines around 14 million tonnes of crude oil per year, according to its website, with products including petrol, diesel and heating oil. (Reporting by Christoph Steitz Editing by Paul Carrel and Miranda Murray)
