EU regulators okay BP to acquire Statoil Fuel and Retail Aviation

BRUSSELS, Dec 15 (Reuters) - European Union competitionauthorities gave conditional clearance on Monday for oil majorBP to acquire jet fuel business Statoil Fuel and RetailAviation (SFRA).

The European Commission said BP had committed to divestingSFRA's activities at Stockholm, Malmo, Gothenburg and Copenhagenairports to remove concerns that increased concentration therewould have led to price increases of fuel for airlines.

"These divestments would remove the entire overlap withregard to the supply of aviation fuel. Moreover, the divestmentswould allow the entry of an additional aviation fuel supplier atthese four airports," the EU antitrust regulator said. (Reporting by Foo Yun Chee; editing by Philip Blenkinsop)
