Castilla y Leon Government Continues Investment Into Berkeley Energia

Mon, 02nd Jul 2018 12:17

LONDON (Alliance News) - Berkeley Energia Ltd said Monday that the government of Castilla y Leon rejected a resolution from opposition groups requesting the EUR250 million investment in the company to be halted.

"Berkeley Energia would like to thank the government of Castilla y Leon for their continued support for the Salamanca mine," the company said.

"This decision reinforces the support the company received on June 13 when over 200 members of Salamanca's business community came together in support for Berkeley Energia's investment, which will create 2,500 jobs in a region which has lost over 120,000 people over the past five years."

The company said it has received a "huge amount of support" for the mine.

Berkeley shares were trading 5.9% higher at 41.00 pence each.
