BHP expands ties with Chinese research and engineering partners

Fri, 17th Apr 2026 01:41

(Alliance News) - BHP Group Ltd on Friday announced the signing of two memorandums of understanding to boost cooperation with Chinese research and engineering organisations China Enfi Engineering Corp and BGRIMM Technology Group.

BHP, a Melbourne, Australia-based diversified miner, said the new agreements with the two Beijing-based entities will support collaboration in mineral processing, leaching, complex ore treatment, and also high-altitude environments.

BHP said its innovation team met several organisations in China that are applying advanced capabilities across areas including robotics, industrial automation, cloud and artificial intelligence, metallurgy, leaching and tailings management.

"The discussions gave important insights into how technologies are being developed and applied, allowing teams to share perspectives on common challenges and opportunities across the mining value chain," BHP said.

The MoU signed with Enfi aims to promote collaboration in mineral processing, process control technology, and leaching.

"By leveraging China Enfi's advantages in research and technology, we will work together to jointly accelerate technological progress in the industry," commented Enfi Chair Cheng Liu.

The second MoU signed with BGRIMM hopes to deliver sustainable mining solutions by expanding collaboration in areas such as mining, mineral processing, metallurgy and environment protection.

BHP shares were down 0.3% at AUD55.74 in Sydney on Friday morning.
