(Alliance News) - Avon Protection PLC on Monday said it hired Jos Sclater, chief financial officer from Ultra Electronics Holdings PLC, as its new chief executive officer.

This comes about half a year after Rich Cashin became Chief Financial Officer of Avon. Cashin as of January 2022 worked as president of strategy & corporate development of Ultra Electronics Holdings.

Wiltshire, England-based personal protection company Avon said Sclater's appointment as CEO will start on January 16 next year.

Sclater worked the last three years as CFO at the London-based defence and security company Ultra Electronics, during which he led a broad-based transformation programme focused on improving growth and efficiency.

Prior to this, he was the CFO at Castrol Ltd, an oil company that markets industrial and automotive lubricants. Before this, he spent seven years at automotive & aerospace components business GKN PLC, including as CFO and director of Corporate Finance & Strategy.

Avon Executive Chair Bruce Thompson said: "He brings a wealth of experience in leadership roles and an impressive track record of value creation within global manufacturing businesses. His expertise in a range of disciplines and deep experience in the international defence industry make him a standout choice to lead Avon Protection as chief executive officer."

Avon shares were up 3.3% at 1,056.78 pence each on Monday morning in London.
