Atome still aiming for Villeta final investment decision by end-2025

Tue, 02nd Dec 2025 12:45

(Alliance News) - Atome PLC on Tuesday said it is working "24/7" with financing partners to hit targets relating to its flagship Villeta project in Paraguay.

"Atome maintains its challenge to the stakeholders to achieve final investment decision by the company's target at or around the end of this year," the developer of green fertiliser projects said in a statement.

The Villeta project is a USD630 million, 260,000 tonne-per-year low-carbon fertiliser plant in Paraguay.

Atome said lenders are actively supporting the project, providing "very competitive terms", with definitive loan agreements now in an advanced stage of negotiations.

"We are maintaining our challenge to our financing partners to achieve FID in or about the end of this year and working with them 24/7 to achieve this goal," Chief Executive Olivier Mussat said.

"Structuring the financing for the world's first industrial-scale green fertiliser plant will be a pioneering achievement," he added.

"While coordinating top-tier global partners across three continents is complex, the time invested now ensures we are building the most robust financial foundation possible for the project's lifespan and sets the blueprint for future projects."

Shares in Atome fell 5.2% to 45.05 pence each in London on Tuesday.
