AfriTin Confident On Future Of Uis Mine Following Further Discoveries

Tue, 07th Aug 2018 11:34

LONDON (Alliance News) - AfriTin Mining Ltd said on Tuesday it has found numerous cases of surface mineralisation at its Uis tin mine in Namibia.

AfriTin said it has delineated 180 new pegmatite bodies on on ML134 licence area, all of which are within five kilometres of the plant location.

Of these, some 95% show visible cassiterite, a tin oxide mineral, at the surface. Further, water well drilling found a pegmatite body 67 metres long from a depth of 14 metres.

AfriTin said the pegmatites were up to 50 metres wide and strike lengths ranged from 20 metres to around a kilometre, and some of the sites showed old artisanal workings.

Some of these new pegmatite bodies have since been chosen as high-priority targets for evaluation work in the near future.

Chief Executive Anthony Viljoen said: "The results of this mapping programme have been very encouraging. Not only do we have confirmation of the extent of the mineralisation in the V1/V2 pit, where we will commence phase one mining operations, but extensive examples of further mineralisation across the 197 kilometre squared mining licence area.

"Intersecting part of a new 67 metre pegmatite body while drilling for a water borehole is an encouraging example of how exploration drives mining growth and how AfriTin intends growing the company. Identification of further areas for future exploration confirms our belief Uis is part of a significant tin province, with AfriTin leading the way in terms of its development."

Shares in the company were 2.3% higher on Tuesday at a price of 3.28 pence each.
